Although some of my time in Iraq and Afghanistan I wish I could forget, those instances are far eclipsed by my memories of working alongside the finest group of Americans assembled from my generation. I wouldn’t be here today were it not for the often unheralded exertions of hundreds of people - their devotion to duty and attention to detail ensured my crew and I made it back night after night. Whether they were in the cockpit alongside me, repairing the aircraft between missions, or guarding the perimeter while I slept, to owe so much to so many is truly humbling.
