As a foreign born American, I am proud to say that serving my country has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had thus far. Having been educated on how American principles influence foreign policies and cultures, I take absolute pride in knowing I was able to be part of the effort in the liberation of the Afghan people from the Taliban regime in order to set their country in the path to socioeconomic development and set a concrete foundation for freedom, democracy, and egalitarianism for all their citizens. My tour in Afghanistan was also life changing in the sense that I was able to not only be present in the making of corrections to a new world type of issue, but make deep rooted fraternal relationships with my brothers and sister in my deployed unit and in the Marine Corps.
